The problem with fear is its effects on an individuals opportunity for any sort of development as well as success. Fear alone can be a hindrance and can hurt a person’s ability to make it through life so sometimes, a person’s phobias can influence their life and become devoid of reason. A person who allows it to rule their life can be prevented from leading a normal existence. Unfortunately the one with the fear is not the only one affected, but other,s including family, friends, and the people around him.
Fear is good for you because it allows a person be on their toes and be mindful what’s happening around them. A person can actually compel their fear to work for them instead of against them but then again, this requires a lot of self-control and some positive thinking. Fear can be caused by something that happened previously or perhaps by a belief that they are incapable of managing with something. There are fears that have a real basis, but many are just the creations of one’s imagination.
Phobia is the term that is used for a fear of a particular thing but such fear can be considered irrational so a phobia can be ridiculous and exaggerated such as a person’s fear of water. Some people who have developed phobia are aware that it is not based on any kind of rationality but unfortunately, they’re incapable of controlling their emotions and move past these feelings.
Some people are quick to equate phobia with insanity but it’s not at all fair to conclude that just because a person has a phobia, it means there is something wrong with their sanity. Phobias can be very embarrassing most definitely when it’s uncontrollable and there are people who will not be able to control themselves when they come face to face with them.
Phobias can be very elementary like the fear of being in a tight space or they can be complex, like riding in an airplane however a social phobia can take the form in the fear of public speaking or the presence of a crowd. Many of these phobias ace accompanied by the presence of panic attacks such as when a person is faced with their phobia and when they are made to come face-to-face with it. It’s okay to be afraid because it is rational to have fears however, a fear that becomes irrational and has no basis is a phobia. It’s no longer a normal fear and can have a negative impact on a lifestyle.
One who wants to rid themselves of their phobic disorder should not see doctors who dig deeper to find the actual cause and such an activity can be a waste of time since finding the root of the phobia will not cause it to go away. The more important thing is to be determined and strong-willed so that fears so that your fears will no longer affect emotions. If one can understand how to influence their own emotions their fears will no longer control them.
